KAY VICKERS COUNSELLING
Moving Forward - Making Progress
Kay Vickers MBACP, MNCS Accred
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and an Accredited Member of the National Society of Counsellors. I am also a member of ACTO, the Association of Online Therapy.
I offer a friendly and down-to-earth approach to therapy, providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk. With training and experience in the main evidence-based psychotherapies, I am able to work in a flexible and collaborative way, tailoring therapy to the specific needs of the person I see.
I work with individuals experiencing relationship problems, anxiety, depression, unwanted thoughts or behaviours, or who simply feel ‘stuck’ in their circumstances. I am familiar with issues related to work stress and other professional challenges. My approach is to explore the root causes of issues in the context of a supportive relationship. I am committed to giving each person I see a thoughtful and professional experience of therapy within a non-judgemental confidential and trusting environment.
I work from two locations in Exeter. The Practice Rooms near the library, just off the High Street and my private therapy room in St Leonards EX2. The rooms provide a comfortable environment and a confidential space.
I begin all counselling work with a free initial assessment, at which point we can jointly decide if therapy with me is the right course of action for you. My fees per session for ongoing therapy are £45 an hour. Concessions may be possible depending on circumstances.
I hold sessions face to face, online and over the telephone.
HERE'S HOW I CAN HELP
If you are seeking the opportunity to talk matters though in a non judgemental and safe environment, I provide the support and understanding to empower you to consider the issues you wish to explore. Working together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and why you are experiencing the difficulties that you have. Enabling you to develop new methods of coping with these difficulties. We will explore patterns in your thoughts and behaviours which will help you to gain a sense of control and stability in your everyday life.
MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS AND ANXIETY REDUCTION
When correctly managed, stress helps us rise to challenges and pushes us to act. In the long-term however, too much stress can be detrimental to our well-being. Symptoms of stress include loss of appetite, insomnia, anger, anxiety and even chest pains. Research has shown that people who are under prolonged stress are at a greater risk of developing health problems such as high blood pressure and heart attacks.
Mindfulness techniques such as gentle stretching, mindfulness meditation and other mind-body exercises can help you cope with stress and provide you with a toolbox moving forward. The aim is to offer a greater clarity on what is happening, to help people recognise stress triggers and deal with them in a productive manner. Engaging in Minfullness can help with feeling more engaged in work, less anxious and have fewer physical symptoms of stress.
RELATIONSHIP COACHING AND COUPLES COUNSELLING
I offer impartial, non-judgemental support and guidance to anyone with relationship issues, whether divorced, married, about to get married, single, seperated or co-habiting for both same sex and heterosexual partners. I can also help those who are still affected by difficulties from a past relationship or who are going through the experience of seperation. I work with a wide range of couple issues, and I am happy to see a couple individually, if both parties agree to work to the same rules of confidentiality.
